Hi all! I've always wanted a hedgehog, but am moving to New York City in the fall where they are illegal. I'm wondering how heavily those laws are enforced since they apply only to the city, not the whole state. I'd also like to know about possible consequences, I'd hate to think that they would put down any future hedgies if I got caught with

Because I live in Pennsylvania. They are completely illegal here. Why?

Hedgehogs are illegal to own in the city I live in. (just about all types of exotic animals are) I really wanted to bring mine with me when I came to school, but decided against it because of living in a dorm room and the fact that I can't own one in city limits and have to have a permit for outside of city limits.
